Anthony Jacquot-Boeykens

I drink a lot of coffee and I listen to techno.
My creative times correspond to a vital need to channel and externalize blocks of raw emotion as in a ferocious dance impulse. They are driven by an urgency. I feel like an organic machine with its engine in overdrive and all its lights on. I feel, in the words of William S. Burroughs, “in the danger of immediacy”. Without this tension, my paintings seem limp and tiresome to look at.
I obsessively use the same industrially-produced materials, the same colors, I repeat the same subjects, the same compositions with no other aim than to soothe the present moment.
